Being a Christian is about more than ‘going to church’. It’s actually about worshipping God, showing in our lives that He is worth most.
The great thing about worship is Christians do it anywhere, anytime. But something special happens when individual worshippers gather in one group on one day at one time. We call those “church services”, but there’s lots more going on than just turning up.
We get to hear stories of worship from during the week. We get reminded of why God is worthy. We are sent out worshipping into workplaces, homes, schools, universities and wherever God has planted us.
8am Holy Communion
“Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10
Sunday at 8.00 am is a quiet and reflective traditional Communion Service using the 1995 A Prayer Book for Australia.
Each week sound biblical preaching is experienced along with celebrating the Lord’s Supper (Holy Communion).
Similar to our other services, lay people participate extensively in this service through prayers, readings, service leading and preaching.
9:15am Traditional Service
“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.” Colossians 3:16
Sunday at 9.15 am is a traditional Prayer Book service each week. There is sound biblical preaching with a good mix of traditional and more contemporary hymns.
Similar to our other services, lay people participate extensively in this service through prayers, readings, service leading and preaching.
11am Family Service
“Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14
Since when was church meant to be boring for kids? The Family Service at Holy Trinity breaks that mould with a time of enjoyment and fun for all ages as we worship our great God.
The band leads everyone in a time of singing, with the inclusion of action songs for the kids and percussion instruments for them to play. Each week the kids hear a talk just for them before heading out to the colourful and purpose built children’s rooms for their activity time – Seekers.
Our aim is to encourage children and adults of all ages to worship and fellowship together and grow in our knowledge and love of Jesus – in a service where background noise of children is welcomed and where there is sure to be at least one other child making more noise than your own!
Grown ups are catered for too with a relaxed, contemporary styled service including practical and encouraging sermons from God’s Word. Once a month we all share the Lord’s Supper (Communion) and every week we share in a very late morning tea.
There is a large creche area in the church for parents with babies and active toddlers. The area is fenced with safety gates and there are plenty of toys. There are also chairs suitable for parents needing to feed babies. Baby change facilities are located in the toilets.
Family Church began a few years ago when the need arose for a service that catered specifically for families with preschool and primary school aged children – that need has now grown to cater for babies through to high school children.
5pm Contemporary Service
- Young
- Old
- Imperfect
- Passionate
- Sinners
- Hopeful
- Thankful
- Jesus-lovers
That is a very good summary of the 5pm community of South East Bendigo Anglican Church.
We meet (you guessed it!) at 5pm each Sunday night to take seriously our commitment to Jesus, each other, and Bendigo.
When it comes to 5 pm Sunday nights, you can expect to find a relaxed style, good music, smiling faces, the bible taught and believed. If there are a number of children present there will also be a short children’s talk with activity sheets. Once a month (normally on the 3rd Sunday) we join together to share in the Lord’s Supper.
After the service there is supper and once a month (normally the 1st Sunday) there is a ‘bring-and-share’ dinner.
No matter who you are , you are welcome at 5 pm.
10am Wednesday Service
“For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.” Psalm 100:5
Midweek at Holy Trinity Church is a time to honour the Lord.
Each Wednesday (Feb-Dec) we hold a Holy Communion Service at 10 am.
Combined with sound biblical preaching and a chance to share with one another over a cuppa – our Midweek Service is a good alternative for those who cannot make Sunday worship services.
